Here at Peninsula Veterinary
Rehabilitation we are dedicated to
improving your pet’s quality of life through rehabilitation and fitness.
Whether your pet is recovering from surgery, suffering from arthritis, or has
a neurological condition, Peninsula
Veterinary Rehabilitation can help.
Your pet will be under the care of
Dr. Shannon Carmichael, who is
a Certified Canine Rehabilitation
Therapist. Treatment will consist of an
individualized therapy plan aimed at
increased mobility, speeding the postsurgical
healing process, and improved
comfort and function. WHAT IS REHABILITATION? Physical rehabilitation is widely used in human medicine and is frequently prescribed for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, spinal injuries, and arthritis. Many of our four legged friends also suffer from these same conditions and can benefit from rehabilitation as well. Studies have shown that by combining traditional medicine with rehabilitation patients can have quicker and more comfortable recoveries from surgical procedures. WHAT TO EXPECT Once a referral is received from your primary care veterinarian an initial evaluation may be scheduled. During your initial evaluation, Dr. Carmichael will perform a complete examination and then recommend a treatment plan tailored specifically for your pet’s needs. You will also receive at home exercises and recommendations. Once a treatment plan and goals are identified we can begin setting up scheduled rehabilitation sessions. Rehab sessions are scheduled Mondays-Fridays, the sessions will be scheduled as “drop-off” appointments in which your pet will spend
several hours here receiving multiple treatments and exercises throughout the day. When you return, we will discuss your pet’s progress and address any questions you may have. |
Dr. Carmichael graduated from St. George’s University in 2010. She then completed an internship at Coral Springs Animal Hospital in Florida. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist.
